Alice E. Washington Ware, 77, a resident of Chester for 56 years, died June 15 at Bishop Nursing Home, Media.
Born in Mineral, Va., where she grew up and was educated, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Washington and Florence Taylor Washington.
Mrs. Ware was known as an excellent seamstress. She was a woman who largely devoted her life to her home and family and was an active member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith of Chester.
Widow of Samuel Ware who died June 14, 1981, she is survived by a brother, Chester Washington of Spotsylvania, Va.; a sister, Esma Ware of Chester; three nieces and a nephew who took care of her, Monroe Ware of Aston, Elsie Ware, Gracie Ware and Charlotte Ware, all of Chester, and a number of other relatives.
She also was the sister of the late Clifton Washington, Ora Winn and Lillian R. Lewis.
The funeral and burial are private. Calling hours are from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Earl L. Foster Funeral Home, 1100 Kerlin St., Chester.
