Cynthia Ware-Rupe Obituary, 2017

OTTUMWA-Cynthia Ware-Rupe, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away on May 16, 2017, at home in the loving arms of her family.

She was born on September 1, 1948 to Marie Coyne Pointer. Shortly after she was adopted by Harold and Aletha Ryals Ware of Ottumwa.  She married John F. Perdue on March 15, 1968 and had a child Lisa Ellen.  They later divorced. She married Wilbur D. Rupe on September 19, 1980.

She was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and earned a Criminal Justice Degree from Indian Hills Community College.  She worked as a security officer at Cargill in Eddyville.  Following her love for retail and people, she worked at Hickory House, Seiferts, Herbergers, and K-Mart. She also worked at Seneca.

She is survived her husband, Wilbur Rupe of Ottumwa, Iowa; one daughter, Lisa (Bob) Edie of Urich, Missouri; a brother, Mike (Joyce) Ware of Perry, Iowa; her biological mother Marie Coyne Pointer of Portland, Oregon; nieces and a nephew; aunts and uncles; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved dog Elsa, her parents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Father Patrick Hilgendorf officiating.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
