WARE, DAISY B., 87, of Atlantic City, died Sunday, October 13, 2002 in Philadelphia, PA. Born in Americus, GA, she received her early education from the Gillespie School in Cordele, GA, and attended the girls finishing school in Dayton, OH.
Mrs. Ware was employed in the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office for 34 years as a deputy sheriff. She was a lifetime member of the PBA, president of the Tropicana Federated Charity Club, and had held memberships in many other civic and community organizations. She received numerous awards and honors.
Fraternally, she was a member of United Order of Tents, and Atlantic Chapter No. 3, Order of Eastern Star (PHA).
Mrs. Ware was a devoted member of Union Baptist Temple in Atlantic City, where she still served as the Chairman of the church’s Trustee Board. She had also served as a member of the Pastor’s Aid Club, Service Club, Union Gleaners and Senior Choir.
Surviving are: a son, James Ware (Louella), of Philadelphia; daughter-in-law, Raythel Royal; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five nieces, Marie Tabbs (Bernard) of NY, Reather Miller of NJ, Juanita Foster of GA, Mary Ann Thomas (Harrison) of NJ, Bobby Cannon (Cole) of CA; nine nephews, George Wright (Gladys) of GA, Floyd Wright (Joanne) of CA, Donald Ware (Alice), Flate Wright, Arthur Wright (Virginia) of GA, George Wright of FL, Floyd Wright of PA, Theodus Ware (Dean) of GA, and Hubert West of TX; also a host of grand nieces and nephews; one surrogate sister, Jerri Ray of Basking Ridge, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2002, in Union Baptist Temple, Pennsylvania & Drexel Avenues, Atlantic & Drexel Avenues, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Pleasantville. Arrangements entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Home, Atlantic City.
